U.S. exports of Dishwashers and other cleaning machinery increased 7.48 percent from $958.97 million to $1.03 billion through the first 10 months of 2018 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 224 through October among the roughly 1,265 export commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 221 for the last full year with a total value of $1.17 billion, a $35.07 million, 2.92 percent decrease from the 2016 total.

Through October of this year the top trade partners were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Germany, No. 4 United Kingdom and No. 5 China. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port Laredo, No. 2 Detroit Ambassador Bridge, Mich., No. 3 Buffalo Peace Bridge, NY, No. 4 Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, Mich. and No. 5 Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

  • Port Huron Blue Water Bridge, Mich. rose 24.37 percent compared to last year to $71.27 million.
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport rose 0.26 percent compared to last year to $65.43 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. exports to No. 1 Canada increased $29.35 million, 7.84 percent, (39.15 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. exports to No. 2 Mexico increased $4.78 million, 2.99 percent, (15.99 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 3 Germany increased $3.28 million, 9.17 percent, (3.79 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 4 United Kingdom increased $7.85 million, 26.54 percent, (3.63 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 5 China increased $9.42 million, 43.14 percent, (3.03 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 65.58 percent of all these Dishwashers and other cleaning machinery exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through October of this year. That is equal to $675.95 million of the $1.03 billion total.
