U.S. exports of Hydrides, nitrides, etc. increased 8.95 percent from $231.17 million to $251.86 million through the first 10 months of 2018 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 494 through October among the roughly 1,265 export commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 497 for the last full year with a total value of $275 million, a $26.69 million, 10.75 percent increase from the 2016 total.

Through October of this year the top trade partners were No. 1 South Korea, No. 2 China, No. 3 Taiwan, No. 4 India and No. 5 Japan. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port of Tacoma, Wash., No. 2 Port of New York, No. 3 Port of Oakland, Calif., No. 4 Port of Seattle, Wash. and No. 5 Port of Los Angeles.

In the last previous full year, the top trade partners were No. 1 South Korea, No. 2 China, No. 3 Taiwan, No. 4 India and No. 5 Japan.   • Port of Oakland, Calif. rose 48.62 percent compared to last year to $19.22 million.
  • Port of Seattle, Wash. rose 2 percent compared to last year to $16.32 million.
  • Port of Los Angeles rose 3.02 percent compared to last year to $13.03 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. exports to No. 1 South Korea decreased $3.98 million, 7.32 percent, (20.03 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. exports to No. 2 China increased $4.41 million, 9.76 percent, (19.68 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 3 Taiwan increased $13.04 million, 49.71 percent, (15.59 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 4 India increased $3.47 million, 16.65 percent, (9.66 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 5 Japan decreased $3.08 million, 14.99 percent, (6.94 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 71.9 percent of all these Hydrides, nitrides, etc. exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through October of this year. That is equal to $181.08 million of the $251.86 million total.
