U.S. exports of Hydrides, nitrides, etc. decreased 8.39 percent from $175.2 million to $160.5 million through the first seven months of 2019 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 506 through July among the roughly 1,265 export commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 495 for the last full year with a total value of $305.25 million, a $30.25 million, 11.00 percent increase from the 2017 total.

Through July of this year the top trade partners were No. 1 China, No. 2 South Korea, No. 3 India, No. 4 Taiwan and No. 5 Japan. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port of Tacoma, Wash., No. 2 Port of New York, No. 3 Port of Oakland, Calif., No. 4 Port of Virginia and No. 5 Port of Houston.

In the last previous full year, the top trade partners were No. 1 China, No. 2 South Korea, No. 3 Taiwan, No. 4 India and No. 5 Japan. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port of Tacoma, Wash., No. 2 Port of New York, No. 3 Port of Oakland, Calif., No. 4 Port of Seattle, Wash. and No. 5 Port of Los Angeles.

  • Port of New York rose 43.38 percent compared to last year to $19.47 million.
  • Port of Oakland, Calif. fell 1.22 percent compared to last year to $12.91 million.
  • Port of Virginia rose 32.34 percent compared to last year to $7.31 million.
  • Port of Houston rose 49.85 percent compared to last year to $6.76 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. exports to No. 1 China decreased $6.21 million, 16.7 percent, (19.3 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. exports to No. 2 South Korea decreased $6.19 million, 17.92 percent, (17.66 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 3 India increased $3.42 million, 19.78 percent, (12.89 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 4 Taiwan decreased $10.62 million, 40.03 percent, (9.92 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 5 Japan increased $680,059, 5.76 percent, (7.78 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 67.54 percent of all these Hydrides, nitrides, etc. exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through July of this year. That is equal to $108.4 million of the $160.5 million total.
