U.S. exports of Make-up and skin-care products increased 9.74 percent from $4.38 billion to $4.8 billion through the first 10 months of 2018 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 54 through October among the roughly 1,265 export commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 54 for the last full year with a total value of $5.32 billion, a $602.85 million, 12.78 percent increase from the 2016 total.

Through October of this year the top trade partners were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 United Kingdom, No. 3 China, No. 4 Hong Kong and No. 5 Singapore. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port of New York, No. 2 Buffalo Peace Bridge, NY, No. 3 John F. Kennedy International Airport, No. 4 Los Angeles International Airport and No. 5 Port of Newark.

In the last previous full year, the top trade partners were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 United Kingdom, No. 3 Australia, No. 4 Hong Kong and No. 5 Mexico.   • Los Angeles International Airport rose 16.75 percent compared to last year to $364.15 million.
  • Port of Newark rose 17.66 percent compared to last year to $275.36 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. exports to No. 1 Canada increased $72.54 million, 7.28 percent, (22.25 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. exports to No. 2 United Kingdom decreased $27.14 million, 6.59 percent, (8.01 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 3 China increased $138.19 million, 66.36 percent, (7.21 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 4 Hong Kong increased $66.03 million, 27.38 percent, (6.4 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 5 Singapore increased $87.5 million, 41.65 percent, (6.2 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 50.07 percent of all these Make-up and skin-care products exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through October of this year. That is equal to $2.4 billion of the $4.8 billion total.
