U.S. exports of Make-up and skin-care products increased 11.20 percent from $1.32 billion to $1.47 billion through the first three months of 2019 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 52 through March among the roughly 1,265 export commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 55 for the last full year with a total value of $5.8 billion, a $478.33 million, 8.99 percent increase from the 2017 total.

Through March of this year the top trade partners were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 China, No. 3 United Kingdom, No. 4 France and No. 5 Singapore. The leading gateways were No. 1 Port of New York, No. 2 Buffalo Peace Bridge, NY, No. 3 John F. Kennedy International Airport, No. 4 Los Angeles International Airport and No. 5 Port of Newark.

In the last previous full year, the top trade partners were No. 1 Canada, No. 2 United Kingdom, No. 3 China, No. 4 Singapore and No. 5 France.   • John F. Kennedy International Airport rose 10.01 percent compared to last year to $119.07 million.
  • Los Angeles International Airport rose 20.02 percent compared to last year to $100.98 million.
  • Port of Newark rose 47.79 percent compared to last year to $100.92 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. exports to No. 1 Canada increased $5.92 million, 1.89 percent, (21.77 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. exports to No. 2 China increased $30.86 million, 38.7 percent, (7.54 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 3 United Kingdom increased $7.09 million, 6.94 percent, (7.44 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 4 France increased $23.69 million, 31.54 percent, (6.73 percent market share).
  • U.S. exports to No. 5 Singapore increased $14.5 million, 18.71 percent, (6.27 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 49.76 percent of all these Make-up and skin-care products exports from the United States were shipped to the top five markets through March of this year. That is equal to $729.98 million of the $1.47 billion total.
