U.S. imports of Misc. garment accessories increased 8.73 percent from $98.57 million to $107.17 million through the first seven months of 2019 when compared to the same period the previous year, according to WorldCity analysis of the latest U.S. Census Bureau data.

The category ranked 718 through July among the roughly 1,265 import commodity groupings as classified by Census. It ranked No. 736 for the last full year with a total value of $170.79 million, a $8.12 million, 4.99 percent increase from the 2017 total.

Through July of this year the leading sources were No. 1 China, No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 Italy, No. 4 India and No. 5 Dominican Republic.   • Port of Savannah, Ga. fell 9.8 percent compared to last year to $5.28 million.

There are several hundred airports, seaports and border crossings that handle international trade; they are, in turn, part of the roughly four dozen U.S. Customs districts.

Highlights for the top five foreign markets:

  • U.S. imports from No. 1 China increased $5.56 million, 9.9 percent, (57.59 percent of all shipments).
  • U.S. imports from No. 2 Mexico increased $287,005, 3.21 percent, (8.61 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 3 Italy increased $1.76 million, 29.16 percent, (7.28 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 4 India increased $1.09 million, 57.59 percent, (2.77 percent market share).
  • U.S. imports from No. 5 Dominican Republic decreased $643,103, 18.28 percent, (2.68 percent of all shipments).

All totaled, 78.93 percent of all these Misc. garment accessories imports to the United States were shipped from the top five markets through July of this year. That is equal to $84.59 million of the $107.17 million total.
